Year 1

Using 2D shapes, Year 1 students drew robots using metallic pens. To create an imaginative setting for their robots, they used watercolour paints, coloured paper and gold and silver pens. To begin to understand form as an element of art, students used flat cardboard pieces to create a robot design. These were glued together and then painted using acrylic and metallic paints.

Using God’s amazing designs as inspiration, students looked at the varying features of birds. They practised drawing birds using 2D shapes and creating unique colour patterns. For further imaginative exploration students designed their own bird by combining the features of another animal with the key features of a bird. They used paints and chalk to create bold backgrounds. Students also used clay to create 3D birds. They moulded basic shapes and features to make their birds recognisable, including a feather for the tail.
