Extra Curricular

Extra-Curricular Performing Arts experiences are invaluable enrichment and extension opportunities for our students to further develop and hone their performance skills, beyond the walls of the classroom, whilst building their performance portfolio and engaging with the broader local, national, international and professional world of the arts. 


Performing Arts

As a department the Performing Arts offer inter-disciplinary extension opportunities for our students to gain valuable skills and experiences.

College Musical Productions

Both Junior and Secondary Schools offer students the opportunity to engage in fully-realised bi-annual musical productions.

Recent productions being 2013 Godspell, 2014 The Jungle Book, 2015 The Dream, and 2016 The Pirates of the Curry-Bean.

Our next College Musical will be our Secondary School 2017 production of Footloose the Musical, set to hit our our MPC stage May 2017.

Arts Express Tours

From Year 9, hard-working Performing Arts students are rewarded with the opportunity to attend highly-reputable and professional main-stage productions through our enriching Arts Express program. Each semester invited students are encouraged to attend a fully-supervised extra-curricular excursion outside of school hours to experience some of Australia’s best talents and productions.

Recent tours have included, Cirque Du Soliel, Bell Shakespeare Company, The Lion King, Les Miserable, and Singing in the Rain.

Our next Arts Express Tour is to experience the Australian Tour of Tim Minchin’s Matilda the Musical early 2017.  

Qld ShakeFest

Senior Performing and Creative Arts students are invited to participate in shake&stir Theatre Company’s annual Shakespearean Festival; a state-wide search for the best student performing and creative artists. Students with interests in Dance, Drama, Music, Film, Photography and Theatrical Design are all encouraged to participate.

Selected from over 5,000 participants in 2016 our current State Finalist include, Karla Denny (State Champion), Brae Mcguire and Fraser Robertson.   


Drama

Junior School Intermediate – Drama Company

Highly recommended for the dramatically keen, gifted or talented, Year 4 – 6 students have the extension opportunity to participate in extra-curricular drama with the outcome of presenting choral speaking items and / or one act plays competing at local eisteddfodau.

Secondary School Drama Companies

Highly recommended for the dramatically keen, gifted or talented, Secondary School students have the extension opportunity to audition for extra-curricular drama companies and present one act plays representing Livingstone Christian College at the prestigious Gold Coast Secondary Schools’ Drama Festival; the largest and longest-running festival of its kind in the southern hemisphere.


Music

Junior School Foundation – Piccolo Choir

Highly recommended for the musically keen, Foundation students have the extension opportunity to participate in choir and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau.

Junior School Intermediate – Allegretto Choir

Highly recommended for the musically keen, Intermediate students have the extension opportunity to participate in choir and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau.

Junior School Intermediate – Percussion Ensemble

Highly recommended for the musically keen, Intermediate students have the extension opportunity to participate in percussion and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau.

Secondary School – Concert Band

Highly recommended Livingstone Arts Academy Instrumental Music students (brass and woodwind) and for the musically keen, gifted and talented, Secondary School students have the extension opportunity to participate in extra-curricular concert band and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau.

Secondary School – Percussion Ensemble

Highly recommended Livingstone Arts Academy Instrumental Music students (drums and orchestral percussion) and for the musically keen, gifted and talented, Secondary School students have the extension opportunity to participate in extra-curricular percussion ensemble and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau; directed by Michael Stegeman lead timpanist of Brisbane Philharmonic

Secondary School – Vocal Ensemble

Highly recommended Livingstone Arts Academy Vocal students and for the musically keen, gifted and talented, Secondary School students have the extension opportunity to audition for extra-curricular vocal ensemble and perform at College and community events and represent at eisteddfodau; directed by Cassandra Seidemann of Opera Queensland.
