Co-Curricular

Livingstone Arts Academy is the Co-Curricular Performing Arts program exclusively within the walls of Livingstone Christian College providing small group, pair and individual tuition through nationally and / or internationally accredited curriculum for students wishing to learn and hone performance skills in Dance, Drama and Music, from beginner to advanced levels.

Enrolments for 2017 opens Term 4 Monday Week 8 2016 and closes Term 1 Friday Week 1 2017 (27th January), after-which time limited vacancies may be available by request.

Classical Ballet and Contemporary

The study of Classical Ballet through the nationally recognised Australian Teachers of Dance (ATOD) or the internationally recognised Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Contemporary Dance provides students with many cognitive, social, emotional and cultural benefits. Dance improves motor fitness, strength and coordination, balance and agility, whilst developing confidence and reducing stress. Dance reinforces formal learning and is an enjoyable and creative avenue of learning.   

Courses offered 2017:

  • Prep – Year 6 Group Classical Ballet (with the option of Examination work)
  • Year 7 – 12 Small Group Classical Ballet (with the option of Examination work)
  • Year 7 – 12 Group Contemporary Dance

Drama & Speech

The study of effective communication and performance, Drama & Speech is a hugely beneficial, enjoyable and creative avenue of learning, offering students individualised curriculum through national and international syllabi developed by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and / or Guildhall Trinity College of London (GTCL) from our beginner “Prep Little Stars” program to advanced senior levels enabling successful students’ selection ranking advantages for university entrance. Students improve their confidence and poise, communication and literacy, oral presentation skills, imagination and spontaneity, self-discipline and arts appreciation.

Courses offered 2017:

  • Prep “Little Stars” Group Drama
  • Years 1 – 3 Group Drama Examination work
  • Year 4 Small Group Preliminary Examination work
  • Year 5 – 6 Group Drama Performance (no Examination work)
  • Year 5 – 10 Pair Examination work (including Group Drama Theory Years 7 - 10)
  • Year 11 – 12 Private Examination work (including Group Drama Theory Years 11 - 12)

Instrumental Music and Voice

Music is a vital part of each and everyone’s life and the academic benefits of learning a musical instrument are widely documented, particularly cognitive development, fine-motor and numeracy skills.  Students are offered small group, pair and individualised curriculum through national and international syllabi developed by organisations such as Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), Guildhall Trinity College of London (GTCL) and / or Royal Guitar Teachers (RGT). From beginners to advanced levels, successful students are able to obtain selection ranking advantages for tertiary entrance in both practice and theory.

  • Drums and Percussion (Kit and Orchestral) 
  • Guitar (Acoustic, Bass and Electric)
  • Music Theory (including Foundation Theory Games for Prep – Year 2)

  • Strings (Cello, Viola, Violin)
  • Secondary Group Music Performance (Brass and Woodwind) (no Examination work)
  • Secondary Group Music Performance (Strings) (no Examination work)
  • Woodwind (Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone)
  • Voice

Senior Professional Communication

The study of effective and professional communication, Senior Professional Communication is tailor-made for student leaders and students wishing to acquire an edge in business, corporate and professional career paths. Offering students individualised curriculum through national and international syllabi developed by the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and / or Guildhall Trinity College of London (GTCL), this program enables successful students’ selection ranking advantages for university entrance.

Courses offered 2017:

  • Year 10 – 12 Private Examination work
