Get Set for School in 2020!

As we prepare for a new school year, here are some top tips and reminders to help make sure that you are set for school at Livingstone in 2020!

Important dates

  • First day of school for all students – Tuesday, 28 January 2020
  • School office is closed – Monday, 20 to Tuesday, 21 January
  • Primary Meet the Teacher Day – Friday, 24 January; 9:00am to 11:00am
  • Secondary Orientation Day - Friday, 24 January; 9:00am to 12:00pm

School start and finish times

Each school day starts at 8:30am and finishes at 3.05pm. If your child arrives after 8:45am they must report to Student Services and sign in BEFORE going to class. Please do not pick your child up early unless it is unavoidable. They miss valuable lesson time and any time away from class adds to their total absent days.

Need to catch the bus to school?

Livingstone’s fleet of buses provides service to all areas surrounding the College and further afield. We also offer a free pick up and drop off service to Ormeau Train Station. If you would like to learn more, click here for Bus Service information.

Develop Performing Arts talent beyond the classroom

Students have access to the co-curricular Livingstone Arts Academy (LAA) program, which group, pair and individual tuition from Prep to Year 12 in Ballet and Modern Jazz Dance, Drama and Speech, Instrumental Music (Piano, Guitar, Drums, Woodwind and Strings), Singing and Art lessons. If your child has an interest in Performing Arts, click here to view more LAA information.

Remember to be Patient at Drop-off & Pick-up

Our drop-off zones can be a busy place in the mornings and afternoon! Please be reminded to be patient and respectful. We are all responsible for helping to keep our families safe around traffic. Please watch the following video with important traffic safety information while at Livingstone. Note that due to construction in Term 1, 2020, the Secondary Drop-off Zone will only have one lane open for drop-off, with the updated no parking and no standing zones to be strictly observed in this area.

Need to visit during the day?

If you need to visit the College at any stage between 8.45am and 2.45pm, please sign in at Student Services and receive your Visitor's Pass (lanyard). If you are on the College grounds at any time during these hours, you may be asked by any staff member to see your pass. Safety of your children is our aim.

Have your Secondary student’s BYOD computer ready

Ensure that your child’s BYOD computer meets our I.T. Minimum Requirements to minimise difficulty in getting setup at the beginning of the year. For recommended suppliers and more information, click here to visit our BYOD information.

Enjoy a hot drink together to start the school year

Livingstone's café, Higher Ground, will be open from the first day of school for our College families to enjoy. The café will also be open on Friday, 24 January, during the Primary Meet the Teacher morning. Higher Ground is located near the Junior School Carpark entrance, behind the Uniform Shop.
