Secondary

Middle

Junior Secondary is a period of significant change for young people. While developing a strong academic culture is important, of equal importance is developing character. Subjects are based upon the Australian Curriculum, Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) Syllabuses and QSA-approved teaching and assessment programs. Wherever possible, subjects are taught from a Christian perspective with a genuine spirit of intellectual honesty and enquiry.

Year 7

As the students enter Junior Secondary, they begin the transition to subjects being taught by different teachers. In Year 7, Core subject teachers have their own room as a base and students move to the teachers' rooms. Whenever possible these subjects will be double lessons which again minimise the amount of movement for the students and the amount of books that need transporting from room to room.

Year 8

In harmony with the College philosophy and to provide children with a broad range of learning experiences, Year 8 maintains their Core subjects and includes two elective lines which change at the end of Semester One, (allowing the students to study four subjects of their own choice) and one rotation where they are able to add four new subjects which can be selected in Year 9.

Year 9

In harmony with the College philosophy and to provide children with a broad range of learning experiences, Year 8 maintains their Core subjects and includes two elective lines which change at the end of Semester One, (allowing the students to study four subjects of their own choice) and one rotation where they are able to add four new subjects which can be selected in Year 9.

Senior

At Livingstone Christian College, the Senior Years of Learning are focussed on preparing students for life beyond school. This involves striving to meet the highest standards for personal and academic conduct and spiritual growth.

Year 10

The Year 10 program is designed to prepare students for the demands and academic rigour of Year 11 and 12 subjects. It is during this time that students need to think critically about their future direction and career aspirations. A diligent attitude to work and the right subject choice for Years 11 and 12, are a major part of successfully completing a student's final years of school.

Years 11 & 12

In Year 11 and 12, students have the option to focus their learning through three different pathways. The Academic Pathway is a focussed course of studies in Authority Subjects endorsed by the Queensland Studies Authority and designed for the dedicated and academically-minded students who aim for university placements.
